A Town in a City Neighborhood
The South Wayne neighborhood is bordered on the east by the west side of Fairfield Avenue, on the south by the north side of Kinsmoor Avenue, on the west by the east side of Broadway, and on the north by the south side of Home Avenue. This was one of the first suburbs of Fort Wayne and the first homes were built around 1909 and all the rest were added by the mid-1920s. Before that, it was the town of South Wayne and was annexed into Fort Wayne in the late 1800s.
